Our Butterfly House
Our family’s love for butterflies took flight after visiting several butterfly houses in Florida. Seeing these delicate creatures up close, fluttering through lush gardens, left an unforgettable impression on us. Who doesn’t love butterflies? Their beauty, grace, and essential role as pollinators inspired us to create a space where others could experience their magic firsthand.

At Fiddleheads Garden Center, we’ve always been fortunate to host an abundance of butterflies thanks to the countless pollinator plants we nurture each year. The idea of building our own butterfly house felt like a natural extension of our passion for gardening and education. So, in the winter of 2023, our vision took shape, and the Butterfly House was built.
This special space isn’t just about showcasing butterflies—it’s about sharing their incredible life cycle with our visitors. We have so many little sprouts (kids!) who visit with their families or on school field trips, and nothing compares to the joy on their faces as they witness caterpillars transform into chrysalises and then emerge as beautiful butterflies. Through hands-on experiences and interactive learning, we hope to spark a lifelong appreciation for these essential pollinators.

The Butterfly House is open from early May through the end of September, providing a seasonal home to a variety of butterflies. Throughout the season, we host special event days where visitors can witness new butterfly releases. Even more exciting, we have upcoming events where our fronds (that’s you, our wonderful community!) will have the opportunity to participate in the releases themselves.
We invite you to visit, explore, and be part of the wonder. And if you’re inspired to attract butterflies to your own garden, our garden center is filled with pollinator-friendly plants ready to take home. Come celebrate the beauty of butterflies with us!
